Melody Mieczkowski began playing piano and cello at a young age. She has studied piano with Lorie Mieczkowski and Rebecca Harding Mayer; cello with Jui-Chao Wang, Mimi Morris-Kim and Anthony Elliott, professor at the University of Michigan; and voice with Laurie Beachell and Candace de Lattre. She has taken Suzuki registered training with Jean Dexter/Carey Cheney (cello) and Caroline Fraser/Rita Hauck (piano).
Melody has been teaching private piano and cello lessons since 2008, now teaching at the First Baptist Music Academy in Troy, MI, Fostoria Baptist Academy in Fostoria, MI and her home studio in Grand Blanc, MI. Currently, her studio consists of over 25 violin, piano and voice students of various levels.
In addition to teaching, Melody is also very involved in her church, First Baptist Church of Troy, as a cellist, pianist and vocalist. Outside of church music, she is the cellist of the Heritage String Quartet, a freelance group that has been active in Southeast Michigan since 2006 (www.heritagestrings.com), along with being the current principal cello for the Orion Chamber Music Society Orchestra (OCMS) and a member of the Oakland University Chamber Orchestra. She is also the accompanist for the Junior and Senior High choirs at Bethany Christian School in Troy. In addition, she is an OCMS board member and helps organize concerts. Melody's desire is to use music as a tool to honor God and minister to others.
