WHERE?

All auditions for Gamma/Delta students will be submitted as videos for 2023. 

WHEN?

---

Audition videos must be uploaded by Sunday, May 7, 11:59pm. Please do not send in video auditions before receiving an email from us with more information. 

WHY AUDITION?

---

The purpose of the audition is to evaluate the Gamma and Delta level students for technical and musical ability. The students will be placed in an orchestra and seated according to their audition performance. The audition is important in helping camp staff to choose students for leadership positions within the orchestra.  Students’ chamber ensemble assignments will also be determined according to their audition.  ​

AUDITION PREPARATION

Scale: 
Student/teacher may choose a scale from the major scales through four flats and four sharps. 
3 octaves for those auditioning for Delta, 2 octaves if student is not ready to play 3 octaves. Scales are expected to be memorized; no scale sheets, please.

2 minutes of a current solo piece (unaccompanied is preferred). 

Orchestra excerpts. Play only the section in brackets. Recordings and specific instructions to help in preparing will be emailed later. Please have your student listen to aid in practicing. 

All ratings will be based on technique, rhythm, musicality, accuracy, and consistency. ​

​Students will also have the opportunity to submit a video of a concerto/solo piece and compete for the chance to play with the Delta orchestra for the final concert. You can find more information here.

AUDITION VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare audition material (will be released in April). 
2. Record a video of yourself playing your scale, solo, and orchestra excerpts (please include everything on one video). Those entering a competition piece need to submit it as a separate video. Make sure you have all your music out and ready on a music stand. A well-lit room with minimal background noise is the ideal place to make a video. Face the camera and make sure your whole body is visible. 
3. Upload your video to Youtube as an unlisted video. Here are step by step directions for using a computer to upload your video to Youtube. 
4. Send us the Youtube link via the audition form.
