Lucy Alessio is an active violin teacher, mentor and freelance performer in the metro-Detroit area. She started violin at the age of five and has always been passionate about classical music and the arts. Lucy received her Bachelor of Arts in music in 2017. She now teaches violin with the Sphinx Overture Program, the OHMI music program, and in her own private studio. She also works in Education for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and is one of the mentors for the Detroit Civic Youth Ensembles.

Chamber music is one of her favorite classical music genres, with orchestral music a close second. Her favorite conductor is Paavo Jarvi. She also has a great interest in film soundtracks, and scores by Patrick Doyle, Michael Giacchino and James Newton Howard rank as some of her favorites.

Lucy is an OCMS string camp alumna. This will be her 12th year of involvement in the camp.
