Lindy Wagner began taking violin lessons shortly before the age of 5. She studied violin performance at Bob Jones University (BJU) for her first two years of college. She then transferred to Eastern Michigan University (EMU) where she completed both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance, studying violin with Dan Foster and viola with Glenn Mellow. While at Eastern, Lindy served as concertmaster of the EMU Symphony Orchestra for several semesters. Starting in 2014, Lindy held the position of concertmaster with the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra (KSO) for five years. She performed with the KSO in 2016 as a winner of the orchestra’s Concerto and Aria Competition. Lindy played in the Pine Mountain Music Festival Symphony Orchestra during its 2015 season and has further experience performing in community orchestras, chamber groups, churches, and weddings.
Lindy has over fifteen years of experience teaching violin and viola to students of all ages. She has completed violin teacher training through Book 8 of the Suzuki method. She has also taken online violin pedagogy courses based on Mimi Zweig’s teaching approach, including the Indiana University Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers. From 2014 to 2019, Lindy taught violin and viola in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with the Copper Country Suzuki Association (CCSA) and for Michigan Technological University.
In 2021, Lindy graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. She now works as a registered nurse in a neonatal ICU. Continuing with her musical activities, Lindy currently maintains a small private studio of violin and viola students. In 2022, she started the Intermezzo Chamber Strings, a string orchestra for late-beginner-level players. Lindy also continues her performing activities, most recently collaborating with the Choral Artists of Michigan, and is active in the music ministry at her church.
