Josiah Ferguson is currently a student of Dr. Lee Joiner, majoring in Violin Performance at Wheaton College Conservatory in Illinois. He began studying violin when he was 8 years old, after developing a fascination with his sisters’ instruments, and has gratefully delighted in orchestral opportunities, church ministry, and community outreach.
Previous teachers include: Soh-Hyun Park Altino, Zeljko Milicevic, Karen Roth, Andrew D’Allemand, and Beth Scott. Additionally, Josiah has studied the past three summers as a student participant, and counselor, at MasterWorks Festival. Special memories include touring and performing Handel’s Messiah in Florida (choir and baroque chamber orchestra), and touring in the United Kingdom with the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra.
Josiah has enjoyed teaching Suzuki students for several years, and is glad to be returning to OCMS String Camp, both as a previous teacher, and multi-year alumnae from OCMS.
Josiah particularly appreciates opportunities to engage in chamber ensembles, fiddle/folk music (special thanks to Michigan’s Troubadour, Neil Woodward), and church/worship music. Additional musical pursuits are classical/folk guitar as well as vocal and piano studies.
