Dana Everson holds an Associate of Arts from Delta College, A Bachelor of Music Education with a Minor in Theory and Literature as well as a Master of Music from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts in Sacred Music from Pensacola Christian College, and a Doctor of Ministry from Northland Baptist Bible College.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Dana currently is a music instructor at Calvary Baptist Academy in Midland, MI, where he directs the bands, accompanies the school choirs, teaches private lessons on piano and saxophone, and assists with music at Calvary Baptist Church. He has previously held a position on the music faculty of Northland Baptist Bible College, WI. During his 12-year tenure there, he taught music theory, music history, ear training, philosophy of music, instrumental conducting, brass and woodwind techniques, hymnology, instrumental and choral arranging, along with teaching private lessons on piano, saxophone and clarinet. Dana also traveled with the Northern Brass team of NBBC, and contributed compositions/arrangements to recordings, theatre productions, the college orchestra, and other ensembles. For 22 years, Dana was Assistant Professor of Music at Delta College, University Center, MI, where he taught theory, ear training elements of music, music appreciation, music history, class piano, composition, beginning winds, and private lessons on piano and saxophone. Dana also contributed musical arrangements for college band and other ensembles. Dana was also Assistant Band Director for two years in the St. Joseph Public Schools, MI. There he directed and assisted with the concert bands and marching bands, and taught elementary instrumental classes in four schools. PUBLICATIONS AND OTHER: Dana has published a book entitled Sound Roots: Steps to Building a Biblical Philosophy of Music, as well as a solo piano CD album, a saxophone CD album, and a brass CD album. He has also contributed many articles to Lines and Spaces, David E. Smith Publications. Dana has three published compositions, and over 500 sacred music arrangements published by David E. Smith Publications. Dana has contributed orchestral arrangements for Ben Everson Music, Forever Be Sure, and The Calvary Quartet. He was the guest soloist/artist for Maranatha Baptist University’s Artist Series in 1995 and 2015, and has given numerous workshops on music for teacher’s conventions.
